The Bartram Breeze 10K, 5K or 2K "Road" Races - Saturday April 13, 2013
Come out to Hamburg for the flat and fast Bartram Breeze “Road” Races. A 10K Extreme Race or a 2K Family Race on the John Bartram Rail Trail starting at the Kernsville Dam Recreation Area just east of Cabela’s.
The 10K race will begin at the Monument just off Kernsville Dam Road and run north on the Bartram Trail for five kilometers, then reverse and return to the finish line. The course on a well-groomed trail and change in elevation is less than 75 feet.
The 2K race will begin at the Monument just off Kernsville Dam Road and run north on the Bartram Trail for one kilometer, then reverse and return to the finish line. Change in elevation is negligible.
New this year - the Bartram Breeze 5K. Not a QUAD Games race but a good middle distance that many runners like. Same start time on the same course as the Extreme and Family Bartram Breeze races.
From PA Route 61, take Jetson Drive to Industrial Drive, cross the railroad tracks and then turn left onto Kernsville Dam Road.
Race registration opens at 8:00 and closes at 8:50. Races start at 9:00.
As with previous QUAD Games, we have great courses; registrant goodie bags; cash prizes for the fastest male and female Extreme racers and a generous slate of awards for both races and the series; plenty of drinks, fruit and baked goodies to replenish the body; a hot lunch from Hamburg's own Pizza Como for registered participants and volunteers; plenty of door prizes; and plenty of BMW and QUAD gear for purchase. If you registered for the series, you are guaranteed a tech shirt (Extreme QUAD) or 50/50 shirt (Family QUAD). If not, then get them on Race Day while supplies last.

2013 Northern Berks QUAD Games
The 2013 QUAD Games are on! Same events as last year with a few new tweaks. This year we are adding a free Hot Lunch for all registered participants and volunteers! Post-Race will now have pizza, burgers, hoagies or hot dogs, depending on the sponsor. We are also adding a 5K option to the Bartram Breeze and the Mad Dash. Both courses are a happy middle between the Family races and the Extreme races. Remember, times from either 5K DO NOT count toward the QUAD, so it you are serious about doing the QUAD, stick with either the Family or Extreme races.
Check back often as we update get closer to the first Race Day - Saturday April 13th.

What are the QUAD Games? The Northern Berks QUAD is a three-season four-event regional competition to promote physical fitness and cross-training as part of a healthy lifestyle and to highlight the outdoor recreational opportunities in the northern Berks County area. Each event includes an “extreme” course for the avid fitness enthusiast and a shorter “family” course for the more casual athlete. Athletes competing on all four of either the “Extreme” courses or the “Family” courses are eligible for the QUAD Games awards at the conclusion of the QUAD Games in September. This is the seventh year for the QUAD Games and we’re introducing some new features: online registration through Active.com, a DJ will be providing post-race entertainment, we’ll have a hot lunch after the races, activities for the kids and we’ve got a new logo on tech shirts – guaranteed for those pre-registering for the Extreme QUAD. If you’ve never tried the QUAD, now is the time. If you’ve done the QUAD before, check out what we’ve got to offer in 2013 – you'll like what you see.
Where and When are the QUAD Games? The 2013 QUAD Games include the following races: Saturday April 13, 2013 - The “Bartram Breeze” 10K “Road” Race and 2K Family “Road” Run at the Kernsville Dam Recreation Area, Tilden Township. An easy start to the QUAD. The race is on a rails-to-trails trail – reasonably flat and no traffic to contend with. The trail follows the scenic Schuylkill River for much of the race and shows off the mountainous scenery of northern Berks and southern Schuylkill counties. New this year, the "Bartram Breeze" 5K "Road" Race. Saturday May 18, 2013 – The “Mad Dash” 5-Mile Trail Race and 2.5K Family Trail Run at the Hamburg Reservoir, Reservoir Road, Windsor Township. Now the fun begins. This one’s an entry-level trail race – not a killer but challenging nonetheless. If you’re getting bored with 5Ks, give this one a try. The “Extreme” race is two miles up the mountain (740 foot vertical climb), one mile along the ridge and two miles back down. The “Family” race is also challenging, but not as high or rocky. New this year, the "Mad Dash" 5K Trail Race. Sunday July 28, 2013 – The “Dutch Country” 15-Mile Bicycle Race and 5-Mile Family Fun Bike Ride at the Blue Mountain Academy, Tilden Township. The perennial favorite. Shift gears and get on your bike. The “Extreme” race is three five-mile loops through the rolling farmland just west of Cabela’s on a closed –road course. The “Family” race is just one loop. Sunday September 29, 2013 – The “U Can DU It” Sprint Duathlon and the Family Mini-Duathlon at the Tilden Elementary School, Tilden Township. Finish the QUAD with a bang. This new 2-mile road run/8-mile bike/2-mile road run course is sure to challenge beginners and old pros alike. The “Family” race introduces kids and novices to the challenges of a Duathlon without being overwhelming.
For all races, registration opens at 8:00 a.m. and the races start at 9:00 a.m. All participants are welcome. Pre-register or show up on race day. Give any of the races a try or sign up for all four.
Okay, how much is registration? Registration for the Extreme QUAD Games is $60 and includes all four races plus a free tech shirt.
